With GSAT-18's injection into GTO, ISRO's Master Control Facility (MCF) at Hassan in Karnataka takes control of the satellite and will perform the initial orbit raising manoeuvres using the Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) of the satellite, placing it in a circular Geostationary Orbit. GSAT-18 was PVC injection molding machine successfully launched by a heavy duty rocket of Arianespace from the spaceport of Kourou in French Guiana.

The launch was originally scheduled for yesterday, but deferred by 24 hours owing to unfavourable weather conditions at Kourou, a French territory located in northeastern coast of South America. Weighing 3,404 kg at lift-off, GSAT-18 carries 48 communication transponders to provide services in Normal C-band, Upper Extended C-band and Ku-bands of the frequency spectrum. Both of these upcoming launches are crucial for the Indian Space Programme," he added. GSAT-18 is the 20th satellite from ISRO to be launched by the European space agency and the mission is the 280th for Arianespace launcher family.Bengaluru: India's latest communication satellite GSAT-18 was today successfully launched by a heavy duty rocket of Arianespace from the spaceport of Kourou in French Guiana."I am really delighted this evening having witnessed another glorious and flawless lift-off of Ariane-5 VA-231 flight that carried GSAT-18 and Sky Muster II successfully. Pointing out that two more satellites GSAT 17 and GSAT 11 were getting ready for the launch by Arianespace during early next year, Kumar said "realisation of both these satellites is in advanced stage".Television, telecommunication, VSAT and digital satellite news gathering were a few of the services that GSAT 18 will support in coming days, he added.

The launch was originally scheduled for yesterday, but deferred by 24 hours owing to unfavourable weather conditions at Kourou.GSAT-18, built by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), aims at providing telecommunications services for the country by strengthening ISRO's current fleet of 14 operational telecommunication satellites.Like on all previous occasions, Arianespace has again provided us a magnificient textbook launch," Kumar said. "GSAT 18 is an important satellite for us that will enable the continuity of the vital communication services in our country by replacing the currently ageing satellites," the ISRO chief said. launched for India's space agency & more to come.GSAT-18 that aims at providing telecommunications services for the country by strengthening ISRO's current fleet of 14 operational telecom satellites was launched into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) about 32 minutes after the lift-off."While GSAT 17 is an important satellite for replacing our satellites, GSAT 11 will be the first generation of high- throughput satellite of ISRO. Kumar said the next step after the successful launch of GSAT-18 was to carry out a series of manoeuvres before positioning it in its orbital location.

"The necessary preparations have been made and our team back in India is working on mission operations at Master Control Facility, Hassan," he said.Following this, the deployment of appendages such as the solar panels and antennas as well as three axis stabilisation of the satellite will be performed, and GSAT-18 will be positioned at 74 deg East longitude and co-located with other operational satellites, ISRO said. Congrats!" ISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar, who watched the launch from the mission control centre, left shortly after lift-off, and his message was read out later by one of his senior colleagues. The launch was originally scheduled for yesterday, but deferred by 24 hours owing to unfavourable weather conditions at Kourou."GSAT-18 successfully launched by Ariane-5 VA-231 from Kourou, French Guiana," Bengaluru-headquartered ISRO announced after the mission.ISRO, which has been dependent on Ariane-5 rocket for carrying its heavier satellites, is developing GSLV Mk III for this purpose.Announcing the successful launch of the satellite, Arianespace CEO Stephane Israel tweeted: "We take great pride in our strong relationship w/ @ISRO! Tonight marks 20 sats. Designed to provide continuity of services on operational satellites in these bands, GSAT-18 with a mission life of about 15 years, carries Ku-band beacon as well to help in accurately pointing ground antennas towards the satellite. With the weather being clear today, the European launcher Ariane-5 VA-231 blasted off at around 2 AM (IST) and injected GSAT-18 shortly after orbiting co-passenger Sky Muster II satellite for Australian operator nbn (National Broadband Network) in a flawless flight lasting about 32 minutes.GSAT-18s co-passenger Sky Muster II, built by SSL (Space Systems Loral) in Palo Alto, California, is aimed at bridging the digital divide, especially in the rural and isolated regions of Australia

Researchers at Case Western Reserve University have developed gene-carrying nanoparticles that home in on target cells and prevent vision loss in mice with a human form of Leber congenital amaurosis. Testing showed a significant increase in light-induced electrical activity from the eyes to the brain, indicating the rods and cones were operating as they should in the visual cycle. The condition is one of the most common causes of blindness in children, according to the National Institutes of Health, affecting two to three of every 100,000 newborns. The mutated gene fails to produce RPE65 protein in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), a cell layer critical for protecting photoreceptors .

A new gene-delivery system for an inherited form of blindness shows promise, according to a recent study. The ECO can be tailored to fit the cargo.Though this research focused on the form of the disease called Leber congenital amaurosis 2, or LCA2, the scientists and engineers involved in the study believe the technology holds promise for other forms of LCA as well as other inherited diseases that lead to severe vision loss or blindness.Lu and colleagues designed a lipid-based nanoparticle called ECO to deliver healthy RPE65 genes to RPE cells.C.Those with LAC2 carry a mutated RPE65 gene and suffer from profound vision loss from birth. The researchers are now investigating whether the ECO system is effective against other visual disorders, including Stargardt disease, which is a form of inherited juvenile macular degeneration, primarily affecting the central portion of the visual field.

The protein is an essential constituent of the visual cycle that converts light to electrical signals to the brain. The study appears in the journal Molecular Therapy Nucleic Acids.Nano-particles carrying the genes will only select target cells and prevent blindness The technology holds promise for other forms of LCA as well as other inherited diseases that lead to severe vision loss or blindness. The exterior of the nanoparticle is coated with nucleic acids that act as targeting agents, drawing the delivery system to the retina and facilitating uptake by RPE cells. The therapeutic effect lasted 120 days in treated China wholesale two color injection molding machine mice. While other researchers focus on using modified viruses to deliver genes for therapy, sometimes the genes are too large for viruses to carry, Lu said.Leader Zheng-Rong Lu said that they believe this technology can deliver almost any type of gene to tackle inherited visual disorders. They are also studying whether the nanoparticles can be used with the CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technique to treat genetic lesions related to retinal degenerative diseases. No improvements were observed in untreated mice. To track activity, Lu's team included a fluorescent markerFollowing injection into the retina of mice, the researchers could see fluorescent green concentrating in RPE cells. Jaipur has only 51 against a requirement of 100No fire suit is availableFire cess of Rs 50 crore collected over the years unutilisedThere is just one snorkel ladder to reach fires in buildings taller than 42 metresMost fire tenders are 10-years-old, no new vehicle purchased after 2013. Jaipur has only 51 against a requirement of 100.The situation is particularly alarming in the Walled City, admit fire fighters.Playing with fire Jaipur has 11 fire stations, while seven more are needed The fire department has 269 firemen against a requirement for 850As per the National Building Code of India (NBCI), one China two color injection molding machine fire tender is required for a population of 40,000. There are only 11 fire stations in the but the city is short by seven. A fire cess of Rs 50 crore lies unutilised.Mayor Ashok Lahoty reached Vidyadhar Nagar fire station for inspection after the incident and accepted that the equipment were old and promised to improve the system.... The reason: the fire fighters were neither trained nor equipped.

Most fire fighting vehicles in Jaipur are in a bad condition. With no lessons learnt from past fires, Jaipur is still sitting on a bomb. The fire tenders were not ready. The official apathy can be gauged from the fact that most fire tenders are 10-year-old and not a single tender has been purchased since 2013. What is the point of opening a fire station without essential equipments?" he asked."They want their own men on key posts to have a say in purchases and contracts. "Instead of conducting fire drills or checking equipment, the fire brigade staff has been roped in for the Swachhta Abhiyan," said a government official.Sources said the victims could not be saved despite three firemen reaching the tragedy site. Jaipur is abysmally short of fire stations, equipment and fire fighters. It is a dangerous situation as lessons have not been learnt from past tragedies. There is neither adequate staff nor proper training for the existing fire fighters. They didnt have masks. Reason: A bill of Rs 750 was not paid by the authorities, forcing the BSNL to disconnect it.The fire brigade department is also working without a permanent chief fire officer and the key responsibility is being handled by an assistant fire officer.Former chief fire officer Ishwar Lal Jat said, "The whole system has collapsed.According to witnesses, the three firemen came in slippers. Ironically, the marchers covered the distance in 45 minutes but the same distance was covered in one-and-half hour by the fire brigade after a call was made around 4 am on the day of the incident. The scenario is even more scary in other cities.Jaipur: Pink City, a major attraction for domestic and foreign tourists and home to over 35 lakh residents, seems to be sitting on a ticking bomb as the fire department in Rajasthans capital struggles to upgrade its equipment and manpower to fight infernos.

Neighbours gave them shoes and wet handkerchiefs to help them enter the house. "Owners do not want to leave an inch of open space in their plots. But, similar promises made during the IOC depot fire in 2009 in the city, that claimed 12 lives, had failed to change the situation. feet out of the total covered area of the plot is often ignored. While 850 firemen are needed, there are just 269 men manning the fire stations. As per the National Building Code of India (NBCI), one fire tender is required for a population of 40,000. There is neither adequate staff nor proper training for the existing one. This is why instead of a permanent chief fire officer, a junior officer is occupying this post," he said. There was no water and firemen didnt have equipment."The authorities have also failed to use Rs 50 crore collected as fire cess over the past few years," he said. Soon after the January 13 tragedy in Vidyadhar Nagar colony, a candle march from the ill-fated house to a fire station at Bani Park was taken."Ten fire tenders purchased four years ago have been rendered useless due to a dispute between the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) and the disaster relief department," said a department insider. After the Vidyadhar Nagar incident, a Congress councillor sat on dharna at JMC headquarters and demanded resignation of the mayor. The disaster relief management machinery in the city failed to react to the distress calls of the victims as a phone at the district control room was defunct. They also didnt have door breakers, bolt cutters, hammers or any other tools."The firemen couldnt even open the fire tenders ladder or fix the water jets nozzle on the pipe," recalled a witness. The bungalow where the incident took place had no escape route. Nearly half of the states 192 local bodies do not have fire station. While the government agencies have a lot to answer, citizens too have to the share blame, said a municipal official."Officials said that fire fighters alone should not be blamed. The provision in building bye-laws to leave at least 10 sq.Jaipur fire departments inadequacies were exposed recently when a major blaze killed five people in a bungalow in upscale Vidyadhar Nagar colony. Those who leave open space in the plot end up covering it with iron grill, leaving no place to escape," said Shankar Lal, a building contractor."It was unfortunate that fire tender reached one and half hours late at a distance of less than a km. Most fire fighting vehicles are in a bad condition. Former MLA and spokesperson of the party, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas alleged that the JMC has become a den of corruption. "Whenever a fire breaks out in the Walled City, we use residential water tanks on terraces of high-rise buildings to sprinkle water on the blaze as our tenders cannot enter the area," said a fireman. No lessons learnt despite 2009 IOC depot fire in Sitapura industrial area that killed 12 people

Global banks are transforming their business models to offer a digital-first experience to customers. In a recent statement, SBI Chairman Rajnish Kumar said that the public sector bank is eyeing at the elimination of physical debit cards. In the Union Budget 2019, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that businesses with an annual turnover of Rs 50 crore will have to use government-backed digital payment platforms like Aadhaar Pay, NEFT, BHIM etc, and no extra charges will be imposed on either customers or merchants. When it comes to India, the government itself has taken a host of initiatives to promote large-scale adoption of technology in various sectors. Moreover, consumers are getting acquainted with banks that are born digital. Some public-sector banks are even taking this digital transformation to a whole new level. According to PwC’s report titled ‘Industry 4. Digitization of India’s.

The shift from ‘conventional banking’ to ‘convenience banking’The banking sector in India has experienced a radical shift in recent years and the very definition of banking has changed. Despite the challenges like security threats, skepticism towards digital banking, lack of financial literacy and awareness, growing evidence thus reveals that digital banking is becoming the most preferred form of banking even in India. It becomes quite evident when compared to the banking landscape worldwide. The emergence and growth of FinTech in IndiaIn addition to all this, India has also witnessed the emergence of numerous FinTech NFBCs. The increasing reliance on technology is a clear indicator that the future of banking virtual. He further stated that there China two color injection molding machine will be a limited need to have plastic cards in the next 5 years. According to industry estimates, our country has emerged as the world’s second-largest FinTech hub, trailing only the US. As we enter the Fourth Industrial Revolution, businesses across industries and verticals are turning to AI, ML, IoT, Big Data and other modern technologies to streamline their operations. Taiwan’s O-Bank, for example, has no brick-and-mortar branches and provides its services through an app and a 24x7 video contact centre. These views and opinions do not necessarily represent those of Deccan Chronicle and/or other staff and contributors to this site. Typically, the process took a couple of days. Today, we have made much advancement in this area. This is where B2B companies come into the picture and can propel large-scale adoption of digital payments in the country.

The report also estimated that the country would soon witness a mushrooming of true digital enterprises. While several public and private sector banks are digitizing their services, we have merely scratched the surface of what digitization can achieve. In the past, net banking was limited to sending or receiving money. The wave of digital disruption has affected several sectors such as manufacturing, retail, logistics, hospitality, travel, and even education. Be it creating new accounts or applying for personal loans, digital banks have enabled consumers to avail banking services through a device that is conveniently placed in the palm of their hands.-- Kumar Srinivasan, CEO, MatchMove DynamicDisclaimer: The views and opinions expressed in this article are solely those of the original author. As per a Juniper Research report, as many as 2 billion Indians will use digital banking by the end of this year. Notwithstanding this progress, banking is one sector that still remains largely untouched by technology. Among other factors like rising smartphone ownership and deeper internet penetration, government support has played a pivotal role in driving the growth of the Indian FinTech sector. And, it’s not just the banks, NFBCs and small lenders are also taking the digital route to provide customers with a hassle-free, seamless experience. However, in a country where cash continues to be the primary mode of transaction, government machinery alone can’t help the country to achieve its financial inclusion goals..The past decade has witnessed a widespread acceptance of digital technologies.0: Building the Digital Enterprise report’, nearly 39% of companies in India plan to invest 8% of their annual revenues in digital programs by 2021. As such, artificial intelligence and various AI-backed applications (chatbots, robotics) have already started transforming the operational aspects and customer service aspects. The way ahead: Virtual banks are set to dominate the pictureTechnology is poised to bring a major change to the banking sector

The state government is also working overtime to improve the power situation and ensure 24 hour power supply.According to Adityanath, he wants to change the identity of Gorakhpur. It may be recalled that Sefai, the native village of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and party patriarch Mulayam Yadav had emerged as the hub of development in the previous government.Other projects that have been finalised and are in various stages of taking off include Gorakhpur metro and a branch of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).Amid high official focus on Gorakhpur, the state government is working on the revival of a fertilizer factory that has been shut for several years.Chief minister Adityanath has also asked the state government to acquire five acres of land near Gorakhpurs Ramgarh Taal and develop a water sports complex and auditorium.Mr Adityanath, who recently visited a Vantangiya village said that it will be accorded the status of revenue village, that will government investment. Revival of closed sugar mills in the area are also a priority area. The special focus on Gorakhpur has refreshed memories of how Sefai, the native village of the Mulayam Singh Yadav, was pampered by the previous Samajwadi Party regime. A new LPG bottling plant is also on the cards. The annual Sefai Mahotsav was one of the biggest cultural events organised there in which the government machinery was blatantly used.

Special focus is on the 4,000-odd families from the Vantangiya community that lives in forest areas in Gorakhpur and adjoining Maharajganj districts as it has been deprived of basic facilities like school, hospitals and power supply since independence. Efforts are also being made to improve the quality of water supply in Gorakhpur city. Vantangiya community, brought from Burma now Myanmar for afforestation during the colonial rule, got voting rights in September.SP spokesman Sunil Singh Sajan said, "The BJP bitterly criticised us for developing Sefai and now that all resources are being diverted to Gorakhpur, they owe an answer to the people". He also asked officials to ensure development in other villages with sizeable population of this community, which lives in forests.Special treatmentYogi govt is working on reviving a shut fertilizer factory by 2019.Like Sefai, Gorakhpur now tops the priority of the BJP-led state government which has already revived many old projects and drawn a blueprint for new ones.To further strengthen the law and order situation, state director general of police has sent a proposal to open 24 new police stations in districts, coming under the "Gorakhpur zone". This land will be given to the tourism department which will develop it as a tourist destination that will also boost the economy of eastern UP.

Now, I want that Gorakhpur should be known as a developed zone," he told officials at a meeting recently. Closed sugar mills will be restarted & a new LPG bottling plant is plannedFive acre land has been acquired near Gorakhpurs Ramgarh taal to develop a water sports complex and an auditoriumBeautification of parks, broadening of roads and drinking water projects to fight encephalitis are also under wayOfficials are working overtime to ensure 24 hour electric supply in the power-starved area.Earlier this land had been allocated to the education department to set up a library and research centre."When I first became MP, Gorakhpur was known as the crime capital of northern India and I took the support of social organisations, traders and youth to counter the mafia.Lucknow: Nine months after Yogi Adityanath took over as chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, his home district Gorakhpur is witnessing an unprecedented drive for a makeover. The Gorakhpur plastic injection machine Manufacturers Development Authority has already undertaken a survey of the entire lake and the surrounding area, official sources said."Besides these projects, beautification of parks, broadening of roads, redevelopment of Ramgarh taal and availability of potable water to check water-borne Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) are also being undertaken", said a senior official in the chief ministers secretariat. The fertilizer factory is all set to be revived by 2019.Officers are now clamouring for a posting in the saffron-clad chief ministers district since it would automatically mean increased proximity to Mr Adityanath who visits his home district almost every week

In our state people are more skilled than the rest of the country. In our manifesto we had promised 20,000 km roads. No action is taken against the culprits.Recently, in Alwar, cow vigilantes killed Pehlu Khan and in Ajmer Sikhs were attacked when they went to collect grains for langars in gurdwara. We have changed all of that. We have fulfilled virtually all the promises made in the election manifesto. We ensured better power supply by bringing in reforms in the sector by involving local citizens. People’s participation has helped us immensely in improving power supply in the state. Our government is working round-the-clock to improve the condition of people. It’s a people’s government. Our government is here to protect citizens irrespective of caste, colour, religion or region.Through "Nyay Aapke Dwar" initiative, our government started delivery of justice at the doorstep of citizens to resolve cases related to property disputes which had been pending for years. It has nothing to do with livelihood in our state. What are your so-called achievements, and with elections approaching, don’t you think anti-incumbency will hit your government?Elections are held on the basis of performance. How do you see the AAP’s presence in the state?India is a democratic country and everyone has the right to contest elections. We have done a lot of work for skill development.

They will meet a similar fate in Rajasthan too. Are you confident of winning? Have you fulfilled the election promises? We are confident of returning to power yet again. The active Centre, active state machinery and active party unit are all working in tandem. All the initiatives started by the state government are a huge success due to people’s participation. Unlike others, we’ve been holding constant dialogue with the people. There’s one-and-a-half year to go for Assembly polls in your state.. In Kerala, attacks are openly carried out against RSS and BJP workers. The state government swung into action in the Ajmer incident. In the Alwar incident, the accused were arrested and chargesheeted.

Is this ban going to affect the livelihood of people in Rajasthan?People in Rajasthan keep cattle for personal use and do not sell cattle for slaughter. Today people are actively participating in government initiatives and the change is visible.Similarly, for ensuring better power supply, the government had requested people to minimise wastage of electricity as a result of which we were able to bring down the transmission and distribution losses to about 15 per cent from 58 per cent.. For MJSA, PVC injection molding machine people involved helped the government in selecting and identifying location for construction of water conservation tanks; they also did "sharm daan" (voluntary labour) for construction and maintenance of these tanks. In the recent Assembly polls in Punjab and Goa, the AAP has been taught a lesson..Our government does not support such acts.Recently the Centre banned the sale of cattle for slaughter. Earlier there was a perception that the government was "mai-baap" and people of the state were not involved. In the past three-and-a-half years, what have been your key initiatives? Our government has started numerous projects in the education sector, power reforms, delivery of justice at doorsteps of citizens through "Nyay Aapke Dwar" programme and water conservation via Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan (MJSA).Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP is making its debut in Rajasthan in the next year Assembly polls. My government has been proactive and has taken several new initiatives. Similar cases take place all across the country, but people with vested interest try to blame our state. It will not have any impact in the state.Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, in an interview with Shahshi Bhushan, claimed that her government does not support vigilantism and virtually pooh-poohed the Aam Aadmi Party’s attempts to make a debut in Rajasthan Assembly polls. If they are planning to make their debut in Rajasthan, I welcome them, but their fate will be decided by the people of the state. We have performed. The pace at which we are going, the Rajasthan government will be able to build about 30,000 km of roads before the polls
